The GMA regime is trying to maintain its hold on state power by pushing the course of CHACHA. It is preventing other factions of the elite from taking the power. The political mess that GMA has unleashed – including the seizure of power at the height of the Erap ouster, the rigging of the 2004 elections, the plunder of national treasury and the awarding of economic contracts and exploiting rights to its favored oligopolies – are causes for other elites to retaliate.
The crisis that characterizes the post-Edsa governments is based on the perpetration of elite rule founded on increasing plunder, and violation of people’s rights. Any government borne out from this elite mold of succession will never save us from total ruin. This is the current situation that all working peoples in the Philippines are facing right now.
The people of the Philippines have no other recourse but to overthrow this elite system of the government. Overthrowing the elite system will unshackle them from the chains of oppression that have bounded the nation for centuries. In place of government, the people have to establish a democratic transition council that will gradually build a just and prosperous socialist society. The people have to do in order to end this crisis of misery and doom. For these to happen, the people have to reclaim EDSA by launching popular struggles that will finally smash the system of capitalist rule and usher in a new system. To do this, the TOILING MASSES HAVE TO ACT NOW!

Families and Victims of violations join
Human Rights day Protests
Karapatan, Selda, Desaparecidos, Hustisya, EMSP, and Bayan joined forced as they marched along
“This is not a day of celebration but of a protest.” Said Mary guy Portajada, Secretary General of Families of the Disappeared for Justice as she marched with the other families of the disappeared. “There are 201 victims who were abducted and remain missing under the Arroyo regime”, she added.
A charter change that will prolong Arroyo’s stay in power will only serve as an instrument for more human rights violations.
These groups will continue to march on the streets to protest against human rights violations of this government. Until they found their loved ones, until they find justice and until the perpetrators are punished.
